Hooijer Renkum collects green waste at its circular location “GroeneWaarden” in Doorwerth. The green waste is shredded and sieved with biomass fractions and compost as end products. The woody biomass fraction is transported to biomass power stations for the production of green energy. The compost is used for soil improvement. Hooijer is looking for other applications to use grasses for biobased materials.
Yilkins offers an integrated solution of washing and drying. First the greenwaste is cleaned to remove sand and stones. Next is a washing step to remove minerals necessary to make high quality product as feedstock for biobased materials or high quality sustainable biofuels.
By improving the processing of green waste, Hooijer is increasingly able to deliver the woody and grass fractions free from contamination (for example plastic, sand, metals and debris). This makes these biomass fractions increasingly suitable for other, more high-quality, (material) applications. Hooijer is researching these possibilities in various consortia, with the aim of using an increasing portion of the collected residues for applications such as guardrail and roadside markers.
